GC: There’s also the fact that almost nobody is making first person shooters anyway, not least because the Oculus Rift development guide advises against it. First person shooters are not as bad as people make out, but the game writers have to be careful about how they treat the player. The best VR experiences are the ones where you’d be sitting down in real life flying an aeroplane, driving a car, flying a spaceship, enjoying a roller coaster. He can do it in a way you’d swear that the corner was still there. He is a man who knows about cutting corners. The most likely candidate to replace my DK2 is still the Oculus CV1. It will become a fight within the corporation between the bean counters and the game makers. Any game that chooses graphical prettiness over frame rate could still get customers cleaning acidic chunks of half-digested food off their floors. Of course it’s one thing developing the kit. Sony are aware that if their headset isn’t over a certain standard then the VR experience can be very nauseating and it could put customers off VR forever. I’m very pleased with the way that Morpheus is progressing.
